The Mityana district capital is located in Central Uganda, about an hour’s drive (77 km) west of the capital Kampala. The two cities are connected with a very good paved road. The area is rural and the town has about 40,000 inhabitants.
Getting there
There are vehicles that can take several persons and their luggage and including taxis and busses. The trip from Entebbe airport skirts the Uganda capital city of Kampala and takes 1.5 to 2 hours to get to Mityana. Mityana is due-west from Kampala on highway that is partially paved and partially dirt.
Thanks to its position of 1200 m above sea level and just north of the Equator, the climate in Mityana is pleasant and bearable; daytime temperatures usually 25-30 degrees Celsius.
Where to eat and sleep

What to do
Mityana offers simple enough for everyday basic needs shopping. There is a market, small supermarkets, local restaurants and bars. For more errands one trip to Kampala is necessary where there is a very wide range of shopping. There are no international schools outside of Kampala in Uganda. Telephone and internet are guaranteed and the supply of electricity and water is available (with periodic interruptions in the power supply).
For health care, there are several health centers and pharmacies. For a more intensive treatment, a trip to the capital Kampala is recommended. Mityana is very rural and therefore has limited leisure facilities.
Security
Mityana and environment are considered safe and petty crime is relatively low. You can easily move around freely. Basic safety measures should still be followed.
